HOPE ON THE SPOT IN EASY VICTORY

- By Toby Smith

A LIAM Hope double helped Ware keep the pressure on Hanwell Town with a comfortable 3-0 win at Ashford Town.

Hope opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 56th minute before the experienced striker netted his second from close range after a flowing team move.

The win was secured two minutes from time as Thomas Bruno added a third from long range.

In the race for the playoffs Bracknell Town earned an emphatic home win over South Park.

Bracknell raced into a 4-0 first half lead thanks to a brace from Mikel Platt as well as a goal apiece for Luke Holness and Seb Bowerman.

The pick of the bunch was Bracknell’s opener after 12 minutes and was created by some fine wing play from Bowerman who squared the ball for Platt to poke home.

Platt nodded home the second beforeHolness finished following some more quality from Bowerman who added a goal to his two assists from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time.

Mark Bitmead’s clever free kick was the difference as Uxbridge beat

Harlow Town 1-0. Bitmead struck low, under the wall, to secure the points for Uxbridge who jump to third ahead of Westfield who were the only side in the top eight who failed to win as they succumbed to a 94th minute equaliser against

Chalfont St Peter.

Westfield thought they had won the match after Arsen Ujkaj gave the visitors the lead in the 82nd minute.

However, Luke Illsey’s back post header from a quickly taken short-corner was enough to earn Chalfont St Peter a point.

In the most entertaining game of the day Bedfont

Sports scored five as they thrashed bottom club

Northwood 5-2. Sports were ahead in the second minute through

Eze Bademosi’s low strike before Max Oldham’s shot bounced kindly off the woodwork to double their advantage.

Northwood were offered a lifeline with Eric Lopes scoring from the penalty spot, but their joy was short lived as Darryl Saunders netted Bedfont Sports’ third on the half hour mark.

The league’s bottom side fought valiantly to once again cut the deficit through a brilliant curling effort for Lopes’ second of the match, but Woods struggled to build on the moment of quality.

Two late goals from substitutes Nathan Wood and Brian Testolin secured the points for Bedfont who finished the match with ten men after Oldham was shown a second yellow card.

First, Wood scored from just outside the area before Testolin’s well taken finish put some polish on the score line. Rob Clark’s impressive long-range strike helped

Waltham Abbey boost their play-off chances with a 2-0 win on the road at relegation threatened

Staines Town.

Staines remain 18th, level on points with Ashford Town and Northwood, above the relegation zone on goal difference. Chipstead put three past ten-man FC Romania including a classy left-footed strike from Ollie Tanner after some neat play with Jacob Sewell.

Tom Collins opened the scoring in the first minute of the match before doubling his tally on the hour mark.

A straight red for Andrei Baciu killed off any hope of a Romania comeback before Tanner completed the scoring in the 87th minute. Hertford Town and Marlow finished goalless as James Jewers missed a spot kick for Town.
