THREE AND EASY AGAINST STEELS

- By Gary Salisbury STAR MAN: Michael Armstrong (SPS) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★

STAMFORD breezed past play-off hopefuls Stocksbridge Park Steels at a windy Zecco with all the goals coming in the second half.

The Daniels elected to play against the wind in the first half and had the first chance of the half when Tom Siddons challenged Jacob Carney for a loose ball and the rebound fell for Dec O’Hare, but he could only find the sidenetting.

Stocksbridge were not havinto ing much luck with the wind with many passes over-hit, but it did help when Jordan Lemmon struck a free-kick from his own half that Dan Haystead had to tip over the bar. Josh Nodder was then close with a curling free-kick just wide.

Stamford had a good shout for a penalty when it looked like Tendai Chitiza was pushed in the box but nothing was given.

Stamford started the second half well on top and Chitiza had a shot wide before Carney fumbled his next effort but Liam McFayden cleared off the line.

The deadlock was broken soon after. Siddons was played in with a delightful pass, and his swivel and shot the top corner though was even better.

Stocksbridge went close again with a free-kick, Luke Mangham’s deflected effort brilliantly cleared off the line by Rob Morgan. Ollie BrownHill then raced up the other end and had his shot palmed wide.

Brown-Hill was the architect of the next goal with a through ball to Morgan who rounded Carney and curled the ball into the net. Jon Challinor set up the third, beating the defender to cross for Jordan Cooke to rifle home.
