SAFFRON WALDEN Town are giving out free season tickets to NHS Key Workers to say thank you for supporting the community during the Covid-19 crisis. James White, director at the Essex Senior League club, says season tickets to NHS workers is a small gesture of gratitude for those who have kept the country running during the pandemic. The Bloods have also launched a fund-raising page to help with fixed costs during the hiamaintenance, and have raised more than £3,000 towards their £5,000 target. And White says they want to show their appreciation. “Any NHS key worker, carer or someone working in the emergency services will be entitled to a free season ticket whenever the next season is,” White said. “It’s our way of saying thanks to members of the community around Saffron Walden who have kept, not just the survival of the club, but the survival of the population. “We’ve set up a justgiving page and we’ve been very moved by it. Within a matter of weeks we’ve hit 66 per cent of our £5,000 target. So as a way of saying thank you to the community as well for standing by the club we wanted to extend a gesture of gratitude by having an unlimited amount of people who work in these sectors entitus tled to season tickets at the football club. “Without the community support we’ve had I think we would be having a very different conversation as board members,” White said. “We’ve also been very lucky a lot of the players have waived wages and expenses and some who have been paid it have put it back into the club which is very generous. “There are still bits of bills and the stock we had will now go out of date and need to be replenished. There are so many costs without football and events on. But the community have really supported us. “It’s our way of saying thank you to the community and, especially, the people who have kept the community and population going through this unprecedented time.”
