SPORTING LASH OUT AT ‘FAKE NEWS’ ON HOTSHOT

- By Andy Mitchell

MANAGER Bren Kelly slammed “unprofessional” social media posts from the agency that touted the services of Bromsgrove Sporting goal machine Mike Taylor.

On the back of 30 goals in 27 matches for the Rouslers, Premier Global Sports Management described Taylor as “one of our available strikers” on its Twitter page.

Kelly hit back calling it “fake news” but Premier responded claiming Bromsgrove’s option to extend Taylor’s contract had expired last month.

Kelly told The NLP that Premier’s Julian Hillman had since “declined” his calls, adding the agency had not been involved in the deal to take Taylor to Sporting in September 2019 and that terms have been agreed to retain him. “Mikey hit the ground running and was banging in goals left, right and centre so they made an approach to represent him last season but nothing happened,” said Kelly.

“It fell by the wayside and went stale and Mikey has told me he has signed nothing with them.

“To put that fake news out there really got under my skin, plus the fact they used the club’s footage without permission. I was irate to say the least and think it was unprofessional.

“They don’t know the situation with Mikey and should not be broadcasting stuff that’s not true.

“Since then I have been bombarded with messages from other clubs that have had bad run-ins with this firm, other managers from up and down the country from our level and those above.

“They are not a great company by all accounts. No one that has been in touch with me has a good word to say about them.

“I have no problem with agents, it is just that some are in the game for the wrong reasons. I have dealt with many who have been professional and up front. There are a few bad apples, though.”

On Taylor’s future, he added: “Mikey was under contract last season and we have verbally agreed a new deal, he is happy and not going anywhere. It is just a matter of getting the paperwork signed.

“He has expressed no desire to leave to me.”

Hillman did not respond when contacted by The NLP.
