LLOYD’S BANKED HIS NEW DEAL AT LANGLEY
FORMER Premier League defender Lloyd Doyley says he is more than happy to stay and extend his stay at Kings Langley.
The 37-year-old defender joined the club last August, helping the club to 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table before the season was curtailed.
Former Jamaica international Doyley spent over two decades at Watford, leaving in 2015. More recently, he has had nonleague spells with Hemel Hempstead Town and Billericay Town.
He helped Lango keep nine clean sheets in his 22 games over the season and is now ready to go again under manager Chris Cummins.
“I’m delighted to have committed another season at Kings Langley,” the right-back said. “After finishing last season on a high of not losing a league game this calendar year and unfortunately for obvious reasons the season got null and void. So would like to continue and help.”
Cummins added: “Lloyd is a great character who was exceptional for us after Christmas. He is an outstanding one-v-one defender who inspires and drives the team on.”
Doyley joins a host of players to commit themselves to new deals at the Hertfordshire club, including another former Watford player, Will Hoskins, who continues as player/coach.
Hoskins, 34, joined the club in January and scored twice in 10 games for Lango, but also proved a huge help to Cummins in taking the side forward.
“When I took the job at Kings, my long term the plan was to have great senior players with a professional back ground looking to put something back into the game. Will fits that bill perfectly,” Cummins added.
Also committing for next season is former Hemel Hempstead Town midfielder Jordan Parkes, Kyle Connolly, Callum Adebiyi, Harry Crawford and Roddy Collins.
