GALE FORCE SPREE
NEW Gosport Borough manager Shaun Gale has made his first flurry of signings with EIGHT players announced this week.
The newly-appointed former Havant & Waterlooville boss was appointed last month and is now moulding his squad for the new season.
Goalkeeper Pat O’Flaherty has re-signed having been a regular last term as Boro finished eighth in Southern League Premier South.
Dan Wooden, a 30-yearold striker, is back at Privett Park having played for the club when they reached the FA Trophy final at Wembley in 2014, after leaving AFC Portchester.
Left-sided defender-midfielder Rory Williams has signed on for another season as has midfield enforcer Mike Carter.
Centre-back Jordan Rose is another new face joining Gale’s revolution along with the return of defender Joe Lea, both players signing from Blackfield & Langley.
Pat Suraci, a midfielder, who runs the clubs Centre of Excellence with Lea, has also re-joined after leaving in November for Weymouth.
The eighth signing of the week was confirmed on Friday evening as centre-back Ryan Woodford.
A fans’ favourite, Woodford signed last summer from Havant & Waterlooville having first played for Boro in 2015.
Gale said: “Woody is the sort of character you need in a successful team. I know him from my days at Hawks and you always know you will get 100% from him. He also has that physicality you need in the Southern League.”
