HALIFAX SWOOP FOR FIVE AS WILD REBUILDS

- By Jon Couch

HALIFAX Town boss Pete Wild is going Wild in the isles for bargains after stepping up his summer rebuild this week.

The Shaymen boss has introduced no fewer than five top-class arrivals and extended deals for another five after leading the club into the play-offs last term.

Perhaps Wild’s marquee signing of the summer is midfielder Luke Summerfield, who has spent the last two seasons will fellow National League side Wrexham.

Summerfield, 32, started his career with Plymouth Argyle making 79 appearances and has plenty of Football League experience with AFC Bournemouth, Leyton Orient, Cheltenham, Shrewsbury Town, York City and Grimsby Town before joining Wrexham in July 2018.

Wild said: “I have spoken a lot about character this summer and in Luke we have a player who understood what it takes to get this club to the next level. He has a true drive and determination to be a massive part of getting us there.”

Summerfield is joined by another Football League name in 27- yearold winger Reuben Noble-Lazarus, who turned out for Barnsley, Scunthorpe United and Rochdale before injury halted his progress.

Also signed up is 23-year-old former Spennymoor Town, Frickley Athletic and Gateshead midfielder Kieran Green, Scottish midfielder Martin Woods, 34, who has Premier League experience with Sunderland before spells with Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley and Matt Stenson, the 26-year-old striker who left Solihull Moors this summer having previously turned out for Leamington and AFC Telford.

Along with Jake Hyde, who arrived last week from Woking, Wild has also retained striker Jamie Allen, midfielder Jeff King, plus midfielder Niall Maher and winger Danny Williams.
