IAN HAS NO QUIBBLE AS LYNN HALTED BY DIBBLE

KING’S LYNN Town manager Ian Culverhouse accused his players of ‘rolling over’ after his side’s defensive frailties were cruelly exposed by a clinical Wrexham outfit at The Walks.

Goals from Jamie Reckord and Adi Yussuf gave Wrexham a two-goal buffer at the break and, although Lynn were much better in the second half, they were unable to breach the visitors’ defence who were inspired by goalkeeper Christian Dibble.

But Culverhouse, whose side were a complete soft touch in the first half, offered no excuses on the final whistle, saying: “The first half we were shocking and we just rolled over.

“We can’t start games like that, it’s ridiculous. It shouldn’t be a learning curve because we should know what this league is like by now.

“Their goalkeeper has made some great saves and kept them in it in the second half but by then the damage had been done.

“If one of those had gone in it would have put some seeds of doubt in their minds, but in the end they saw it out quite comfortably.”

Wrexham’s passing was crisp and their movement was fluid as they looked to hit Lynn on the break.

They took the lead in the eight minute as Reckord swept the ball home at the far post after Lynn failed to deal with a cross from the right.

It was 2-0 after 26 minutes following a contentious free-kick award and

Adi Yussuf was on hand to bundle the ball home at the far post.

Lynn’s lacklustre opening half put them firmly on the back foot and after the break it was the heroics of Dibble that protected Wrexham’s two-goal advantage,

Culverhouse’s side were a different animal in the second 45 minutes but found visiting shotstopper Dibble in terrific form.

A Jordan Richards header from a Cameron King corner wide of the near post, while Marriott glanced a Ryan Jarvis centre over the woodwork.

Dibble denied Michael Gash, who’d seen an effort cleared off the line towards the end of the first half, with a great stop after fine interplay between King and Southwell.

Gash was foiled for a second time in quick succession by Dibble from the resulting corner, the goalkeeper tipping the ball over the bar when it looked destined for the top corner.

Midway through the second half, Marriott saw his left-footed shot well saved by Dibble as the hosts continued to dominate.

Wrexham’s only chance of the second period arrived in the 81st minute where Jordan Ponticelli was unable to steer a Reckord cross home.

Culverhouse praised the performance of Lynn’s veteran striker Gash, saying: “He led the line for us so well. He’s a real battering ram for us and caused them so many problems.”
