KIDDERMINSTER H 2 FARSLEY CELTIC 1

-

SUPERSUB Samson Hewett produced a storming late two-goal show to help Kidderminster Harriers battle back from a goal down to claim victory over Farsley Celtic and secure a place in the fourth round of the National League U19 League Cup.

Jared Felix gave Celtic a shock lead two minutes before the half-time whistle when running onto a tame pass to charge at the keeper Robert Bytheway one-on-one before calmly slotting the ball underneath his body.

Kidderminster, however, got better as the gamne progressed and provided a contant threat on Celtic’s goal with numerous attempts narrowly missing the target.

The closest they came in the first half was a free-kick deep into stoppage time which forced a fine save from Farsley keeper Jamie Cosway.

However, the growing pressure from the home side shifted into a higher gear once substitute Hewett came into the fray.

Indeed, with just a couple minutes left on the clock, Hewett drew Kiddy level with a powerful strike which crashed against the underside of the crossbar and into the net, beyond a bamboozled Cosway.

From then, it looked like only one side would go on and win it, and that would be proven when Hewett stepped up again to fire a dipping winner with just seconds on the clock remaining.

With seemingly nowhere to go, the popular sub sent in a cross-cum-shot which stunned Cosway and the Celtics backline and dipped into the far top left-hand corner of the net.

It helped Harriers secure their place in the fourth round in spectacular style. BRAD MOBBS & BEN WHITE
