DIOR’S READY TO BATTLE ON

- By David Richardson

WREXHAM have extended the contract of striker Dior Angus – and are making moves to bring in more fire power from the Football League.

The National League club have taken up the option to extend Angus’ current deal by an additional 12 months.

It means the 27-year-old striker, who has scored seven goals since signing last February, will stay at the club until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Angus recently returned from nearly two months out through injury and then illness and is delighted the club is standing by him.

“It’s nice that the manager has showed some faith in me,” he said.

“I want to repay it by getting out there and scoring

more goals but we’ve got a good squad so you just have to be patient, and take your chance when it comes.”

Reds boss Phil Parkinson added: “He’s had a frustrating time through injury and illness, but with his contract now sorted early in the transfer window, we are now focused completely on getting

Dior back up to speed, and ensuring he plays his part in the rest of the season.”

While Angus has committed his future to the Dragons, strike partner Devonte Redmond is assessing his options elsewhere after joining Kidderminster Harriers on loan until the end of the season.

Ambitious Wrexham, meanwhile, are looking to add to the signings of Paul Mullin, Aaron Hayden, James Jones and Ben Tozer, who were all brought in from the EFL last summer.

AFC Wimbledon striker Ollie Palmer is on their radar with the Welsh club reportedly making a bid worth £180,000 for the former Havant and Leyton Orient frontman.

The 29-year-old is the Dons joint-top goalscorer this season with seven goals – and boss Mark Robinson is desperate to keep him.

“Ollie is certainly not someone that I want to lose – 100 per cent,” he told the Press earlier this month.

Parkinson is also said to be in for Gillingham striker Vadaine Oliver, who has five goals in League One this season after netting 17 times last term.
