ARDLEY CHUFFED TO LAND TRIO OF TARGETS

- By John Lyons

SOLIHULL Moors boss Neal Ardley has expressed his delight at pulling off a hat-trick of signings as he strengthens his squad for a renewed promotion assault.

Moors lost to Grimsby in the National League promotion final last month after finishing third in the regular season, and former AFC Wimbledon and Notts County boss Ardley wants to take the club into the EFL next term.

To that end, he has bolstered his attacking options by bringing in striker Alex Reid, 26, a former Moors loanee, on a season-long loan from Stockport County.

He has also snapped up Joey Jones, 28, on a oneyear deal. Jones, who can play in defence or midfield, spent the final part of last season on loan at Grimsby from Dagenham & Redbridge.

In addition, Moors have signed Wolves goalkeeper Louie Moulden on loan until the beginning of January.

Ardley said: “Alex is a natural goalscorer, proven at the level and will fit our style with his movement and pace.

“If we attack like we did last season, he will score a number of goals.”

The towering Birmingham-born forward is eager to get on the goal trail with ambitious Moors.

“I’ll always back myself when given the opportunity,” he said.

As for bringing in Jones, Ardley said: “Joey is someone I looked at signing before at Notts County and I also had him training with me at Wimbledon.

“He fits the bill perfectly for the way we play and will be a very important squad member.”

Keeper Moulden, 20, spent part of last season on loan at Ebbsfleet.

Ardley added: “We feel Louie, with his play-off experience at Ebbsfleet, fits the bill – he can play from the back, is good with his feet and is a brave and highly-rated keeper.”
