CROWE’S HUNGRY TO SOAR WITH THE GULLS...

- By Chris Dunlavy

FORMER England youth international Dylan Crowe has promised Torquay fans plenty of swash and buckle from full-back after joining the Gulls from Ipswich Town.

The 21-year-old played alongside the likes of Everton’s Anthony Gordon and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones for England Under-18s but was released in June without making a senior appearance for the League One Tractor Boys.

“I’m at a point in my career where I need to play men’s football,” said Crowe, who can play as a conventional right-back or as a wing-back.

“I’ve played with some great players at youth level and we’ve all had different pathways. This is mine, I’m looking forward to the opportunity that Torquay have given me and now is my time to kick on.

“The fans here will see an attacking full-back. I like to get up and down, lots of energy, good delivery on crosses. Hopefully they’ll like what they see.”

Crowe heads a list of seven new arrivals at Torquay, who were all announced after the first day of pre-season training.

Midfielder Ryan Hanson has joined United on the back of an impressive campaign with doomed Dover Athletic, where he was made captain at the age of 21.

Brett McGavin, 22, has also seized his chance to remain in the National League, arriving from relegated King’s Lynn.

Former Luton and Sutton striker Aaron Jarvis, 24, bolsters the forward line after joining from Scunthorpe United, as does loanee Kieron Evans, a 20-year-old Wales youth international who has made five Championship appearances for parent club Cardiff City.

Jack Winsor and Lewis Brooks, who both impressed for Torquay’s successful Under-18 side last term, have been promoted to the first team.
