THETFORD TOWN retained their commanding 11-point advantage at the top of the table with a 2-1 win at home to fourth placed Ipswich Wanderers on Saturday.

Elliot Smith and Sam Bond were both on target for the league leaders.

Nathan Stone struck a hat-trick and Rob Turner grabbed a brace for second placed Harleston Town as they recorded a crushing 8-0 away victory over Ely City and third placed Hadleigh United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Norwich United.

Elsewhere, Shaun Avis netted twice for sixth placed Lakenheath as they secured a 2-1 away success over bottom side Haverhill Rovers and Whitton United

remain in deep relegation trouble after suffering a demoralisi­ng 7-0 defeat at home to Mulbarton Wanderers. Ben Thompson and Amon Kutsirayi both scored twice for the rampant away side.

Charlie Holmes and Ryan Gibbs were amongst Long Melford’s goal scorers in a 3-1 home win against Walsham-le-Willows and Soham Town Rangers were beaten 3-1 away to Kirkley & Pakefield.

Alex Meeken, Miguel Lopez and Connor Swan were all on the score sheet for Kirkley as they moved well clear of the drop zone.

Matt Hayden and Lewis Whitehead were Newmarket Town’s goal scorers in a 2-0 home victory over Fakenham Town and Sheringham were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Mildenhall Town.

KENNINGTON made it 11 goals in two games as they thrashed Stansfeld 6-0 away from home. Mo Cham marked his debut with the opening goal in the 21st minute before Kunyai Munyama made it 2-0 two minutes before the break. Ton Scorer and Liam Middleton scored midway through the second half, with Mitchell Harman scoring before Middleton completed the rout in added time.

Whitstable Town came from a goal down to beat Glebe 4-1 after Ryan Atkinson gave the visitors an early lead.

Victor Aiyelabola levelled before halftime, with Harry Gamble, Tom Mills and James Jeffrey netting in the second half.

Second-placed Rusthall twice came from two goals down to draw 3-3 at

Hollands & Blair. Danny Rumbol, Danny Walder and Tom Walmsley scored in the opening 17 minutes for Blair, with Louis Anderson netting in the 16th minute for the Rustics, who claimed a point through penalties form Louie Clarke and Yassin Fares.

Phoenix Sports continued their good form, Lee Bird and Dave Martin scoring in a 2-1 win at home to K Sports.

Sutton Athletic continue to impress in their first season, beating Lordswood 3-1.Arlie Desanges, Dan Gunner and Conor Evans scored, with George Acland pulling one back at the death.

Jacob Katonia as Fisher beat Bearsted 1-0, while Deal Town were held 1-1 by

Punjab United.

Holmesdale’s home game against Canterbury City’s and Erith Town’s trip to Tunbridge Wells ended goalless.
