DIBBLE ACCEPTS HIS NEW MISSION AT KIDDY

- By Jon Couch

GOALKEEPER Christian Dibble says he accepts he will have to force his way into the Kidderminster Harriers first team after joining on a deal until the end of the season.

The experienced 28-year-old arrives at Aggborough having most recently been at Wrexham, where he reigned as their longest-serving player after a stay of fiveand-a-half years.

During that time the custodian twice played a part in helping the Dragons to the National League play-offs, while he was also between the sticks for the 2022 FA Trophy Final at Wembley.

Following in the footsteps of his dad Andy, Dibble amassed more than 60 starts for Wrexham, having also played for Chorley, Boston, and Stockport County earlier in his career.

Dibble, the former Wales Under 21, suffered a knee injury in pre-season and with Rob Lainton and Mark Howard battling it out for the number one shirt, it was mutually agreed that Dibble would leave in pursuit of first-team football.

However, Dibble started on the bench for yesterday’s trip to Peterborough Sports and the experienced shot stopper knows he has plenty of work to do to get the nod from manager Russ Penn over fellow goalkeepers Tom Palmer and Jamie Emery.

“With me, Palms and Jamie, there is good competition there,” Dibble said.“I know I’m not just going to come in here and take the number one shirt, it’s never been about that. I want some good competition and I’m thriving of it.

“The first day I came in, the lads have been really welcoming to me and we have a good team here.

“It’s about climbing the table, getting as many points as we can until the end of the season and hopefully getting into those play-off positions, which I can really see us doing.”
