JORD’S NO RUN OF THE MILL TALENT

-

MUCH-VAUNTED Jordan Thomas says he is humbled by the interest of Football League scouts, but insists his focus remains solely on North Leigh’s relegation scrap.

The 21-year-old front man has attracted attention from a number of professional clubs after scoring 21 goals in his debut season at Step 3 with the struggling Millers.

One unnamed Football League club and a number of top end National League clubs have been regular visitors to North Leigh’s Eynsham Hill this season.

But while admitting he is flattered by talk surrounding his bright future, Thomas insists he will keep his feet on the ground with his sole aim to keep his hometown club in the Southern League Premier South division for another year.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to play professional football and the aim is to play as high as I can,” Thomas, in his second season with the Millers having joined from Didcot Town, told The NLP. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t flattered by the interest but my only focus is staying up with North Leigh this season.

“Having scouts watch me play does not put no pressure on me, if anything, it pushes me on even more/ I want to score goals and I want to be noticed.

“As a team, we’ve struggled a fair bit this season, but we are slowly getting our confidence back. We’ve shown mid-table form In the last 10 games or so and we’ve given ourselves a chance.

“Personally, it’s my first season at Step 3 and I’ve been really pleased how it’s gone. When there’s confidence in the team, I feel like I’m going to score. It’s all about belief.”
