RAMOS AND BORO GIVE CHAMPIONS A LESSON

GOSPORT BORO’ 4 CHESHAM UNITED 2

- By Connor Steel

GOSPORT Borough ended their regular league campaign and secured an away trip to Salisbury in the play-off semi final with victory over Chesham at the AEI Stadium.

The champions made a perfect start as they scored within nine minute; Jordan Edwards firing a curling shot into the top-right corner.

But Gosport came roaring back and equalised in the 19th minute through Danny Hollands, who rifled home from six yards out to spark loud cheers.

It was 2-1 to Borough moments later when great play left Dan Wooden to tap home into the open net. The goal was cancelled out as Eoin

Casey headed home for Chesham on the halfhour mark. And the first half scoring was complete when Rafa Ramos lashed home inside the near post to make it 3-2.

Sub Ricardo German almost made an immediate impact upon the restart as he went through on goal but failed to get his effort on target.

This was soon followed by chances for Ramos and Harry Kavanagh who were both brilliantly denied by the away goalkeeper Zaki Oualah.

The hour passed without incident as Chesham sought another equaliser; James Harding firing wide and German missing a great chance. Down the other end, Harvey Rew smashed the bar before a fourth goal in added time through Alex Barsa’s piledriver.
