Brad stars as Falmouth do it again

AFTER successfully negotiating two home play-off ties, Toolstation Western League runners-up Falmouth Town join Helston Athletic and Mousehole at Step Four, ensuring strong West Cornwall representation in next season’s Southern League.

With a starting 11 unchanged from the midweek semi-final victory over Barnstaple Town, and roared on by the fabled

F-Troop fans in the Packet End, Falmouth made the perfect start with a third minute goal. Released down the left by Bradley Leivers, ex-Swindon Town striker Oscar Massey wriggled through the Clevedon defence to tuck a low shot inside James Dunn’s near post.

A volley by Glen Hayer, safely pouched by home keeper Morgan Coxhead, was all Clevedon could muster in response before the interval. Against a home defence superbly marshalled by centre-backs Tom Annear and James Ward, pickings were equally meagre after the turn-around.

The visitors fell further behind with 20 minutes to go. Substitute Rubin Wilson tenaciously won the ball wide on the left and squared to Massey who set up Luke Barner for an emphatic finish.

Clevedon went for broke. Their best chance fell to substitute Freddie King, but James Swan made an excellent block.

This is Falmouth’s second successive promotion under boss Andrew Westgarth.
