National Mòd fundraisers bag £1,000
MORE than £1,000 was raised in Fort William at the weekend for the Royal National Mòd, to be held in Lochaber in 2017.
Members and supporters of local organising committee, Meur Lochabair, packed bags in Morrisons supermarket on July 25 and 26, raising £1,015.60 towards the £ 30,000 required.
Ronald Cameron, chairman of Meur Lochabair, said: ‘ We are very grateful to the generosity of the shoppers, both visitors and locals, who gave so much, including those who preferred to pack their own bags, but who nevertheless made a contribution.
‘Thanks also to the management and staff of Morrisons and to the many volunteers who turned out to pack bags.’
It is estimated the Mòd will inject more than £2 million into the Lochaber economy in the quiet month of October.
