Na­tional Mòd fundrais­ers bag £1,000

MORE than £1,000 was raised in Fort Wil­liam at the week­end for the Royal Na­tional Mòd, to be held in Lochaber in 2017.

Mem­bers and sup­port­ers of lo­cal or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee, Meur Lochabair, packed bags in Mor­risons su­per­mar­ket on July 25 and 26, rais­ing £1,015.60 to­wards the £ 30,000 re­quired.

Ron­ald Cameron, chair­man of Meur Lochabair, said: ‘ We are very grate­ful to the gen­eros­ity of the shop­pers, both visi­tors and lo­cals, who gave so much, in­clud­ing those who pre­ferred to pack their own bags, but who nev­er­the­less made a con­tri­bu­tion.

‘Thanks also to the man­age­ment and staff of Mor­risons and to the many vol­un­teers who turned out to pack bags.’

It is es­ti­mated the Mòd will in­ject more than £2 mil­lion into the Lochaber econ­omy in the quiet month of Oc­to­ber.
