Raft race waits for tide

AHOY! Oban’s Raft Race is looking forward to fine sailing weather when sailors take to the water at the annual event on Saturday, August 8.

While it is difficult to be precise about an actual starting time, Jim Edge of the Oban and Lorne Lions Club, who run the event, said: ‘It will take place as soon as the tide is right’.

Jim continued: ‘We are dependent on the tides, however people should come down at 1pm to enjoy the music from Oban FM and games for youngsters.

‘It is always a great day out for all the family.’
