MSP renews call for organ donors

A HIGHLANDS and Islands MSP has renewed her calls to people in the region to opt in to organ donation, after donor numbers fell for the first time in a decade.

Rhoda Grant MSP, shadow minister for sport and health inequalities, ran an awareness campaign in 2013 encouraging people to sign up to the organ donor register.

She is particularly encouraging those who are registered to let their families and loved ones know of their wish to donate their organs after they die.

Mrs Grant said: ‘It is disappointing donor numbers have dropped recently and heartbreaking that people are dying while waiting for a transplant.’
