Karen moves on from college board
IT HAS been all change on the board of West Highland college UHI as new members are welcomed and others depart.
John Hutchison has taken on his new role as chairman, while the team wave goodbye to long-serving vice chairwoman, Karen MacGregor.
Ms MacGregor has been involved with the college since 2013 and played a lead role in the merger from Lochaber college to the wider West Highland group.
She said she has been privileged to work on the board: ‘I shall certainly miss being so closely involved with West Highland college UHI. It was a privilege to play a role in the birth and development of such a dynamic and successful organisation. However, most of all, I will miss the many inspiring people I have had the pleasure of meeting over the years.’
Lydia Rohmer, principal and chief executive of the college, wished her colleague well: ‘Karen has long been a champion of further and higher education initially in her local area of Ardnamurchan, then throughout region. Since my appointment as principal in 2013, she has contributed her valuable local knowledge and insight to her role on the board.
‘She has been a great source of wisdom and advice on the many initiatives facing the educational landscape both locally and throughout Scotland, always ensuring that the success of our students, particularly those from rural areas are always at the very forefront of the college’s decision-making. We wish Karen all the very best for the future.’
