Music feast at Port Ellen
THE AWARD-WINNING duo of Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham will be in concert in Port Ellen’s Ramsay Hall on Saturday September 6 as part of the Blas Festival 2015 which runs throughout the Highlands and Islands from September 4 to September 12.
Also on stage with the Shetland fiddler and the Edinburgh ace accordionist will be the Lochaber multi-instrumentalist and singer Ewan Henderson, a former member of the Battlefield Band and co-founder in 2010 of the increasingly popular Gaelic group Mànran.
Sharing the Port Ellen platform with the visiting musicians will be the highly-talented youngsters from the Fèis Òigridh Ìle ’s Dhiùra stable who are guaranteed to keep up the tempo and join with the visiting performers in the finale.
The Port Ellen gig kicks off at 7.30pm and among other islands included in the itinerary of this year’s Blas Festival are Mull and Skye.
