High number of entries at North Connel and district flower show

NORTH Connel and district horticultu­ral show was a resounding success with a high number of entries in almost every class.

The annual event, held in the Victory hall, Benderloch, was buzzing with people of all ages taking part.

The local school competitio­n was hotly contested with children taking centre stage in the trophy haul. Results Championsh­ip Cup (most points in classes 1 to 52, flowers, pot plants and vegetables) - Jessie Wormell; Mcleod Shield (runner up as above) - Fiona Shaw; Les Milne Cup (best exhibit in show) - Jim MacKie for his fuschia; Oban Times Cup ( most points for flowers) - Moira Newiss; Campbell Godley Quaich (most points for pot plants) - Jessie Wormell; Dundonald Vase (most points for Annuals) - Marieka Steuben; Agnes MacKay Quaich (best exhibit for violas or pansies) - Jim Mackie; Tensfeldt Cup (most point for vegetables) - Andy Newiss; Silver Baking Cup (most points for baking aged 7 years and under) - Grace Stewart; Silver Rose Bowl (most points for baking aged 8 to 14 years) - Kai MacKechnie; An Claddich Quaich (most points Baking Adults) - Eileen Hill; Best Eggs Quaich - Jessie Wormell; Achnacreeb­eag Cup (most points for Floral Art) - Jane Eccles; Graham Stooke Cup (most points for Photograph­y Adults) - Elsa Bell; Photograph­y Shield (most points Photograph­y under 15s - Charlotte Jackson- Stark; Silver Vase (most points Children’s Art aged 9 and under) - Sophie Stewart; Donald Morrison Cup (most points Children’s Art aged 10 to 14) - Eilid MacPherson; Jean Campbell Cup (best exhibit in Children’s Art) - Callum MacMillan; Schools Challenge Cup (best school entry in flowers and vegetables) - Barcaldine School for white potatoes.
