Station merger plan still on track
PLANS to merge Oban’s community fire station with the town’s ambulance station have stalled but have not stopped.
The Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) are in discussions about bringing the two services together under one roof, Oban’s community safety group heard last Friday.
SFRS Oban station manager Martin Hill said: ‘ The proposals for us to co-share with the ambulance service are at an advanced stage.
‘ There are a number of protocol to be discussed which has slowed up the process at the moment. There is a desire within the fire service to see this happen.’
