New Glenelg football pitch cheer

-

GLENELG amateur football club has unveiled its new pitch, following a £75,000 boost.

The villagers, who play in the Skye and Lochalsh league, received the funding from the Capital One ‘Grounds For Improvement’ campaign last year, after being selected from more than 1,000 applicants by England international Ian Wright and Britain’s oldest Sunday League footballer Derek May. The money was used to install state of the art drainage and level the field at Avenue park.

Glenelg resident Erica McDonald, who submitted the application on behalf of the football club, said: ‘ We’re delighted with our new pitch, which was in dire straits but thanks to the support from Capital One we now have a pitch to be proud of. It looks fantastic and gives fans and the wider community something extra special to look forward to in the coming season.’
