PUPILS on the island of Tiree has been given advice how to get the best out of school life.

Tiree high school have handed out five top tips for a good start to the school day. Teachers have asked pupils to consider having a good night’s sleep, eating breakfast, organising for the day ahead, getting to school on time and being prepared when they get to school.

The school’s newsletter, issued weekly, also asks parents and carers to let the school know about the ‘ wider achievemen­ts’ of pupils. The newsletter reads: ‘If there is anything your son or daughter has been awarded, taken part in, shown great improvemen­t in please let us know as soon as possible. This can be in your child’s diary or in an email to the school.’

A GOLDFISH, which was the centrepiec­e of a peaceful room in Tiree primary and high school, has passed away, children found out when they recently returned to school.

A report in the school’s newsletter read: ‘Over the summer holidays Bubbles was lucky to have been given a home in Tigh a Rudha with one of our kindly senior citizens but sadly Bubbles will not be returning to school as she died. We are pleased to have had such a lovely school pet.’
