All change at the helm of Corpach in Colour show

-

A POPULAR gardening show bid farewell to its lead organisers at the weekend, making way for two new masterminds.

Organisers of Corpach in Colour, Margaret MacIntyre and Margaret Simpson, known affectionately as the two Margarets, have handed over the reins to Nicola Muir, secretary, and Louise Pescod, treasurer.

At the event held in Kilmallie Village Hall on Saturday, Louise said: ‘Nicola and I have not taken over just yet, but we have been shadowing the Margarets as they’ve organised this year’s event. This is the first year we have been involved. Next year will be our first show on our own.’

The two Margarets will continue to volunteer on the committee and will be on hand for support. Nicola said: ‘There is a lot of work involved in the planning of Corpach in Colour, but with the support of the community, schools and nurseries we can keep going with this ever-growing event.’

It was apparent on Saturday that the poor weather of this summer had had an effect on the honey produce and vegetable growth, and organisers found the categories low in entries. However, flower entries were strong and varied.

Holiday maker Margaret Simpson was said to be disappointed she could not attend the event due to a mix up with holiday dates.

Judges of five years Linda and Isobel Campbell also announced that it would be their last year on the job as the time had come for them to move on. Margaret MacIntyre received a special gift and kind words from both judges and new organisers ahead of the prizegiving.
