traffic on the busy Glasgow to Inverness road to a standstill as drivers stopped to help but Elsa and her housemate, Gay Eggington, said a camper van driver arrived on the scene with a dog lead to secure Mungo and bring him home.

Elsa, who, with Gay, owns four other dogs, said: ‘It was a miracle that the campvervan man arrived with a lead. I don’t know what would have happened otherwise. It was so nice of everyone to help but I didn’t even get a chance to thank them properly and I couldn’t let it go unnoticed.’ Gay, 71, added: It was great of everyone to stop and help and it’s unusual to see such patience and good news on the A82.’
