Weekend RNLI fundraiser

KYLE OF Lochalsh will be a hub of maritime fun this weekend for the annual RNLI fundraiser.

Starting at 12pm, Saturday’s events will feature demonstrations from Kyle and Mallaig lifeboats and Kyle fire brigade. British Underwater Testing and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) will also be present and are once again allowing the public access on to some of its boats.

The coastguard, police, mountain rescue team, British Red Cross and the vintage ‘ Watson’ class lifeboat will also be there on the afternoon, with Lochalsh junior pipe band entertaining the crowds.

Depending on weather conditions at the weekend the local kayaking club will put on games and demonstrations before the day is rounded off with the Kyleakin to Kyle swim at 5.45pm.
