Farming, past and present
THIS week we feature a clipping from the Oban Times dating from 75 years ago.
The clipping has been kept in an album by the family of Inveraray woman, Rae MacGregor.
The article, dating from August 1940, tells of a unit for let near Taynuilt, Barguillean Farm. A close look at the report from last Saturday’s Dalmally sale reveals that the same farm is still producing top quality sheep.
Mrs MacGregor believes her father kept the clippings, featuring stories about the war effort, the wool clip, agricultural wages, bracken control and many other subjects of interest to him.
Look out for more examples from this fascinating collection in future editions of the Oban Times.
