-

BT West Regional Shield – Oban Lorne v Isle of Arran OBAN Lorne kick off the 2015/16 season with a home tie in the BT Shield against Division 2 Isle of Arran RFC.

The Green Machine will go into this game with confidence after a boost in playing numbers and a well-structured pre-season programme.

The islanders will provide a tough test for Lorne prior to the following weekend’s away trip to Cambuslang in the opening weekend of West Division 1.

Oban should field a strong team despite missing club captain Cammy Smith and brother Struan due to work commitments. Captaincy for the game will be taken by 21-year- old Craig Wright.

Kick off will be 3pm at Glencruitten.

BT West Regional Bowl – Birkmyre v Argyll and Bute Argyll and Bute RFC will play their first ever game in the BT Bowl with an away game to Birkmyre in Kilmacolm on Saturday.

Argyll have impressed during the pre-season with home and away friendly wins over Aberfeldy and Kintyre.

It is hoped that the team will have a successful season ahead and can fulfil all of its fixtures with a blend of youth and experienced players. The team are still looking for new recruits; anyone interested can train 6.45-9pm every Tuesday and Thursday night at Oban Lorne RFC.

Argyll and Bute’s first home game of the season will take place on Saturday September 12 with an Argyll derby against Cowal RFC
