Education boost
A QUARTER of a million pounds has been awarded to Highland council to improve education in the region’s schools.
Highland was one of 19 local authorities to get money from the Scottish government’s inspiring learning fund for distance learning development and new equipment to connect schools.
Drew Millar, chairman of Highland council’s education, children and adult services committee, said: ‘I’m delighted as the funding will allow us to look at how new technologies can be used to bring benefits to all schools and pupils, especially when it comes to creating more opportunities for distance learning and making the most of shared resources. We also work hard to ensure the safety of young people when they are using technology, so continuing this work will also be a priority.’
