Change of date proves successful
A YACHT club’s annual race proved to be a success, despite a change of date.
Lochaber Yacht Club held the yearly event on the weekend of August 22 and 23.
The regatta is normally held in June over a week, but a decision was taken to move the dinghy race to a date later in the summer and on a tighter timescale.
Domhnull Montogomery of the club said: ‘This change seemed to be popular with the members, with a good turnout. Dinghy racing was held on the Saturday and Sunday and the keelboat racing took place on Sunday.’
On the Sunday afternoon competitors, spectators and organisers enjoyed a barbeque, followed by an award ceremony that saw prize winners receive their trophies.
Results: Simpson trophy for fast handicap dinghies, Keith Falconer and Lucy Ballantyne; Britannia cup for slow handicap dinghies, Ben Lennon; Junior cup, Ruaridh Poll; M M Cameron - the Keelboat trophy, Domhnull Montgomery, Sine Montgomery and Alex Francis.
