Doors open on Bumps and Babies island group
HOME- Start Mull has recently established a weekly Bumps and Babies group for pregnant women and parents of young babies.
The group aims to give people somewhere to meet, socialise, have a coffee and access support from various different agencies each week, including from the health visitor, family support worker, midwife, child-smile and breastfeeding peer supporter.
Pregnancy and the early years of parenthood can be an anxious time. Families on Mull can be geographically fragmented often leading to feelings of isolation and reduced opportunity for socialising with others in a similar situation.
The Home- Start Bumps and Babies group provides an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation, to potentially develop new friendships and support networks and to provide regular access to relevant health professionals in an informal setting.
The group has been fortunate to secure funding from Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT) and Oban, Lorn and the Isles (OLI) Health and Wellbeing Fund to enable Home- Start to establish and continue to run the group until June 2016 when it will seek further funding.
Thanks have been made to MICT and the OLI Health and Wellbeing Fund on behalf of Home- Start Mull and on behalf of the mums and mums-to-be who currently are making use of the Bumps and Babies group.
