Dalmally

THE closest gents club championship at Dalmally for many years saw two former champions battling it out in the final round. A stunning back nine of 32, including a birdie three at the testing final hole, enabled Gerry Davis to peg back leader Graeme MacKechnie, and claim his third championship in five years. MacKechnie, looking to turn the clock back and regain a title he last won in 1991, started out steadily and looked to be protecting his lead until a run of dropped shots on the back nine cost him dearly, Davies coming out on top by two shots.
