Islanders dig deep to help refugees

TIREE residents have so far managed to raise £700 with more money and material donations arriving everyday for the Syrian refugee crisis.

While the weather was particularly bad on a fundraising walk, with winds gusting up 40mph, islanders managed to gather and walk Gott Bay.

Islander Hannah Wright said: ‘For such a small island the response has been wonderful. People really do want their voices heard even from a remote island in the Atlantic.’
