Ballachulish backs hydro-scheme bid
BALLACHULISH residents have backed a proposed hydro- electric scheme.
The village’s community company wants to install the scheme at the Laroch to generate electricity to be sold for profit which would, in turn, benefit the village. Although voter turnout was only 45 per cent, those who did take part voted in favour of the scheme by 93.8 per cent. The next step is applying to the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency for an extraction licence before applying for planning permission later in the year.
