Inaugural hill race a success
MORE than 50 runners travelled to Ardnamurchan for the inaugural Beinn Resipole hill race on Saturday.
The athletes set off from Loch Sunart before taking on the 845-metre summit, with a total distance of 7.3 miles.
Tom Owens of Shettleston Harriers was first home in one hour, 10 minutes and 57 seconds, almost six minutes ahead of second place, Mark Sutherland, of Glasgow University. First lady home was Shona Robertson of Shettleston, whose time of one hour, 21 minutes and 23 seconds gained her eighth place overall. Of the Lochaber Athletic Club runners, Steve MacDonald recorded the best time of 1:19:14 to finish third overall. First Lochaber lady was Vikki MacKinnon, seventh female, in 1:53:54.
