Charity gig’s ‘Songs for Dawn’

2012, when she was two, a similar gig and CD raised £9,000.

The money was split between three hospitals – Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen – which had cared for Dawn during the 12 operations she has faced since being born with neo-natal meningitis.

Bodie said: ‘We recorded the original three years ago. This time, as well as raising money for a wheelchair-adapted car, 10 per cent of the proceeds will go to the sick children’s unit in Inverness.’

At the gig on Friday November 6, there will be a kids’ disco from 6pm to 7.30pm, followed by a band night from 8.30pm to 1am featuring tribute acts, including BC/ DC, Bodie and Brown – with Bodie as Wiggy Stardust – Cileas McMaster, Wonderland, Rising – a Rainbow tribute act – and Moving Pictures.

Bodie said: ‘Dawn needs all sorts of special equipment, such as a specialised baby walker called a pony gait walker. She has no sense of balance and it helps her move along with her legs.

‘Dawn spends time in a ‘Stander’, a type of standing frame which helps to stretch the tendons in her legs and stop her hips displacing.’

There will be a 19-track CD to go with the gig, which has been masterminded by Stevie Brown.

Bodie, who provided all the food for the builders of the new Caol Community Centre, reckons this will be the first event to be staged there.
