Tex­tile fes­ti­val re­turns

FASANTA Fes­ti­val of Tex­tiles and Fash­ion will re­turn to Oban for the third con­sec­u­tive year on Fri­day to cel­e­brate Jewels of His­tory.

As well as a full week­end of work­shops, talks, dis­cus­sion and ex­hi­bi­tions cel­e­brat­ing Scot­land’s tex­tile her­itage, Fasanta will also fea­ture a com­mu­nity pro­gramme in the Cor­ran Halls, Oban.

On Fri­day af­ter­noon pri­mary schools from Ar­gyll, in­clud­ing Park, Achaleven, Taynuilt and Dal­mally will par­tic­i­pate in work­shops led by tex­tile ex­pert Carol Hamil­ton to cre­ate two fab­u­lous out­fits to be mod­elled at the Com­mu­nity Cat­walk Show that evening at 7.30pm.

The Fasanta mar­ket place will also be open in the Cor­ran Halls, with a great se­lec­tion of prod­ucts by mak­ers from all over Scot­land. Stall hold­ers will be pro­vid­ing ‘ taster ses­sions’ to al­low vis­i­tors a chance to try out a new skill.

The mar­ket place will also be home to Fasanta chil­dren’s ac­tiv­i­ties.

Award-win­ning Gaelic singer Rachel Walker will per­form a new com­po­si­tion ti­tled Seu­dan (Jewels) on Satur­day Novem­ber 7 at 8pm.
