Textile festival returns

FASANTA Festival of Textiles and Fashion will return to Oban for the third consecutiv­e year on Friday to celebrate Jewels of History.

As well as a full weekend of workshops, talks, discussion and exhibition­s celebratin­g Scotland’s textile heritage, Fasanta will also feature a community programme in the Corran Halls, Oban.

On Friday afternoon primary schools from Argyll, including Park, Achaleven, Taynuilt and Dalmally will participat­e in workshops led by textile expert Carol Hamilton to create two fabulous outfits to be modelled at the Community Catwalk Show that evening at 7.30pm.

The Fasanta market place will also be open in the Corran Halls, with a great selection of products by makers from all over Scotland. Stall holders will be providing ‘ taster sessions’ to allow visitors a chance to try out a new skill.

The market place will also be home to Fasanta children’s activities.

Award-winning Gaelic singer Rachel Walker will perform a new compositio­n titled Seudan (Jewels) on Saturday November 7 at 8pm.
