Tackling the housing crisis in Scotland

-

Sir, Alastair Redman is calling for more social housing for smaller Islay villages – informing us it’s been 40 years since houses have been built here.

Mr Redman and his Tory party was billing me £ 50 a month ‘ bedroom tax’ and trying to force me out of my house until the SNP stepped in and stopped me paying this tax out my sickness benefit.

The SNP should take action on the tens of thousands of spare houses in Scotland – encouraged and subsidised by the Tories – to ease the housing crisis.

Mr Redman was also calling for the bonkers ‘right to buy’ scheme to be reintroduced recently.

My opinion is there should be no ‘right to buy’.

For every eight houses sold under ‘right to buy’, only one was built to replace it, which is a Tory disgrace.

No wonder Scots hardly vote Tory and they shouldn’t have the power they have in Scotland.

The United Kingdom isn’t democratic.

Colin M Campbell, Islay.
