Firm trade at Oban sheep sale

A GOOD show of store lambs and feeding ewes at Oban Livestock Centre on October 27 was met with a firm trade. Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 1,946 lambs and ewes, with lambs keenly bid for and trade up on the previous sale. All classes of ewe saw firm prices and more, say the auctioneers, could have been sold to seller advantage. Top price of the day went to A MacColl, Fanmore, for a cracking Texel ewe at £100. In the lamb section top price went to two regular consigners to the market, Donny McCor- mick, Isle of Lismore and Ian Malcolm, Poltalloch, for pens of Texels and Beltex crosses respectively, both selling at £51.50.

Additional sale date added to Dalmally calendar

AN EXTRA sale to the normal United Auctions calendar last Friday at Dalmally saw an entry of over 1,800 head of sheep and lambs. All classes sold to a good ringside of buyers with all types selling at prices comparable to recent sales.
