Un­der 16s win Lochaber Fes­ti­val

OBAN Lorne Un­der 16s trav­elled to Fort Wil­liam on Satur­day for Lochaber RFC's 10-a-side fes­ti­val. Oban came up against Nairn A, Nairn B, Lochaber and Lochgilp­head.

The Oban side were un­de­feated on the day win­ning all four matches with­out con­ced­ing a sin­gle try!

The fes­ti­val in Lochaber was wel­come for the Oban side whose league game against Ste­wartry was called off with the op­po­si­tion un­will­ing to travel.

The team have a game sched­uled with New­ton Stew­art this Sun­day.

Mini rugby

Oban Lorne RFC hosted the lat­est Mini Rugby Dal­ri­ada Fes­ti­val at Glen­cruit­ten on Sun­day.

Teams at­tended from Mid Ar­gyll RFC and Etive Vik­ings RFC at P4/5 and P6/ 7. Un­for­tu­nately Mull RFC and Lochaber RFC were un­able to make the fes­ti­val.

En­cour­ag­ing num­bers, how­ever, from the three teams in at­ten­dance pro­vided an af­ter­noon of fan­tas­tic rugby.

Teams ro­tated around three coach­ing sta­tions fol­lowed by matches. Etive Vik­ings dom­i­nated against an im­prov­ing Oban and Mid Ar­gyll teams.

The fi­nal Dal­ri­ada of 2015 is this Sun­day (Novem­ber 8) hosted by Mid Ar­gyll RFC in Lochgil- phead. Oban Lorne Mini Rugby train­ing is held ev­ery Wed­nes­day evening from 6-7pm at Glen­cruit­ten. Etive Vik­ings RFC Mini train­ing is held in Taynuilt ev­ery Wed­nes­day evening also from 6-7pm. All P4-7 Pri­mary Pupils are wel­come to at­tend.

T4 School Con­fer­ence

Oban High School hosted Wil­liamwood High School from Glas­gow in the lat­est T4 Schools Con­fer­ence meet­ing last week. The schools com­peted in games at S1 & S2/3 Oban fielded en­cour­ag­ing num­bers hav­ing 29 S1 play­ers and 18 S2/3 play­ers avail­able.

Un­for­tu­nately the re­sults did not go Oban’s way with the S1s nar­rowly beaten 24-21 and the S2/3s go­ing down 54- 0 against an im­pres­sive away side.

Oban High have fur­ther fix­tures in the school con­fer­ence against Hyn­d­land (Novem­ber 11) and Shaw­lands Academy.

UN­DE­FEATED: Oban Lorne un­der 16s won the Lochaber 10-a-side fes­ti­val with­out los­ing a game.
