Under 16s win Lochaber Festival

OBAN Lorne Under 16s travelled to Fort William on Saturday for Lochaber RFC's 10-a-side festival. Oban came up against Nairn A, Nairn B, Lochaber and Lochgilphe­ad.

The Oban side were undefeated on the day winning all four matches without conceding a single try!

The festival in Lochaber was welcome for the Oban side whose league game against Stewartry was called off with the opposition unwilling to travel.

The team have a game scheduled with Newton Stewart this Sunday.

Mini rugby

Oban Lorne RFC hosted the latest Mini Rugby Dalriada Festival at Glencruitt­en on Sunday.

Teams attended from Mid Argyll RFC and Etive Vikings RFC at P4/5 and P6/ 7. Unfortunat­ely Mull RFC and Lochaber RFC were unable to make the festival.

Encouragin­g numbers, however, from the three teams in attendance provided an afternoon of fantastic rugby.

Teams rotated around three coaching stations followed by matches. Etive Vikings dominated against an improving Oban and Mid Argyll teams.

The final Dalriada of 2015 is this Sunday (November 8) hosted by Mid Argyll RFC in Lochgil- phead. Oban Lorne Mini Rugby training is held every Wednesday evening from 6-7pm at Glencruitt­en. Etive Vikings RFC Mini training is held in Taynuilt every Wednesday evening also from 6-7pm. All P4-7 Primary Pupils are welcome to attend.

T4 School Conference

Oban High School hosted Williamwoo­d High School from Glasgow in the latest T4 Schools Conference meeting last week. The schools competed in games at S1 & S2/3 Oban fielded encouragin­g numbers having 29 S1 players and 18 S2/3 players available.

Unfortunat­ely the results did not go Oban’s way with the S1s narrowly beaten 24-21 and the S2/3s going down 54- 0 against an impressive away side.

Oban High have further fixtures in the school conference against Hyndland (November 11) and Shawlands Academy.
