Camanachd Association appoint new north shinty development officer
THE Camanachd Association is delighted to confirm the appointment of Katie Drain as Regional Shinty Development Officer for the North.
Katie will take up the Invernessbased post on Monday November 23 and replaces the previous RDO, Russell Jones.
Katie is already well known within shinty circles as a player for both Glasgow Mid Argyll and the Scotland Women’s teams, and also as a coach and administrator.
Since 2008 Katie has worked for the Scottish Sports Futures (SSF) charity in Glasgow, delivering Education Through Sport programmes across Scotland.
In 2013 she became Programme Manager of SSF’s highly successful “Jump2it” initiative, a primary school Health and Citizenship programme delivered across Scotland to ‘at risk’ youths, using pro athletes to deliver interactive workshops.
Katie has also previously worked as a Sports Coach for East Dunb art on shire Council and is qualified to coach a range of sports, including: shinty, basketball, football and hockey. She has an Honours Degree in Sports Management from Glasgow Caledonian University.
