A ‘baby boom’ in west coast waters

-

SIGHTINGS of young whales and dolphins off the West Coast are at the highest ever recorded.

Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust said the number of juvenile minke whales spotted this year is larger than ever before, either indicating a baby boom or an influx from elsewhere. Research also showed the number of common dolphin sightings has more than doubled over the last 12 years, but the reasons are ‘unclear’.
