ACHA helps lo­cal groups

CHAR­ITY groups are be­ing en­cour­aged to ap­ply for fund­ing to boost their com­mu­nity projects.

Ar­gyll Com­mu­nity Hous­ing As­so­ci­a­tion (ACHA) has, over the past year, given fi­nan­cial help to 17 or­gan­i­sa­tions through­out Ar­gyll and Bute.

Th­ese groups have re­ceived an award from the as­so­ci­a­tion’s Com­mu­nity Ac­tion Fund, set up to give do­na­tions of up to £ 500 to or­gan­i­sa­tions reg­is­tered with the Of­fice of the Scot­tish Char­ity Reg­u­la­tor and which have some hous­ing con­nec­tion or a con­nec­tion to the aims and ob­jec­tives of the as­so­ci­a­tion.

Ap­pli­ca­tions are con­sid­ered by ACHA’s four lo­cal area com­mit­tees.

In Oban, Lorn and the Isles, groups which have ben­e­fited from an award in­clude Oban Youth Café, Oban Win­ter Fes­ti­val, Cu­ram Thiri­odh, Soroba Young Fam­ily Group Nurs­ery, Glenorchy and In­nishail Com­mu­nity Or­chard and Ross of Mull and Iona Com­mu­nity Trans­port.

Lor­raine-Anne Drys­dale, chair­woman of Oban, Lorn and the Isles area com­mit­tee said: ‘It has been a plea­sure to be able to help lo­cal groups with fund­ing for their projects that ben­e­fit our lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties. We would like to high­light to lo­cal reg­is­tered groups that this fund­ing is avail­able.’
