ACHA helps local groups

-

CHARITY groups are being encouraged to apply for funding to boost their community projects.

Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has, over the past year, given financial help to 17 organisations throughout Argyll and Bute.

These groups have received an award from the association’s Community Action Fund, set up to give donations of up to £ 500 to organisations registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and which have some housing connection or a connection to the aims and objectives of the association.

Applications are considered by ACHA’s four local area committees.

In Oban, Lorn and the Isles, groups which have benefited from an award include Oban Youth Café, Oban Winter Festival, Curam Thiriodh, Soroba Young Family Group Nursery, Glenorchy and Innishail Community Orchard and Ross of Mull and Iona Community Transport.

Lorraine-Anne Drysdale, chairwoman of Oban, Lorn and the Isles area committee said: ‘It has been a pleasure to be able to help local groups with funding for their projects that benefit our local communities. We would like to highlight to local registered groups that this funding is available.’

Any group which wants to apply for an award from the community action fund should contact Lorna Kerr at ACHA on 01546 605922.
