Sounds of science at Inverlochy primary

-

PUPILS from Inverlochy Primary School and nursery enjoyed a visit from Generation Science, a group which delivers interactive performances to show children how sounds are made.

Generation Science is a touring programme of science shows delivered by the Edinburgh International Science Festival and the Inverlochy event was supported by Rio Tinto Alcan.

The show follows the adventures of Ella, who loses the sound of her voice and sets out on a journey to find it. Ella’s Wobble, as the show is called, also tells youngstes how pitches change and where echos come from.

Head teacher at Inverlochy Primary School Kirsty Clark said: ‘We are delighted to welcome the Gen- eration Science tour to the school. Ella’s Wobble is an excellent way of engaging very young children and making science fun and enjoyable.’

Danielle MacTavish from Rio Tinto Alcan added: ‘We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to support the development of our young people again. We feel it is very important that rural areas have the same opportunities as central locations to provide exciting educational activities to local children and we are passionate about supporting education in the local area.’

This is the 25th year of Generation Science, and it will be touring schools over Scotland, delivering the show. This year the tour will visit more than 600 schools in 31 local authority areas from the Borders to the Shetland Isles.
