Mull blazes a trail in Chelsea Fringe with open gardens

THE ARTS and Gardens Trail on the Ross of Mull and Iona takes place again from tomorrow (Friday May 27) until May 30.

The private gardens will be open from noon till 6pm on these days.

This year the event is associated with the Chelsea Fringe and there are eight special events happening: horseshoe forging, willow weaving, ceramics, bug hotel constructi­on, maze constructi­on, scarecrow constructi­on and the ability to visit an ancient fish trap and an ancient ruined township.

Tickets are £ 5, which includes a trail map and descriptio­ns of all gardens and Chelsea Fringe events, and is valid for up to all four days. Accompanie­d under-16s go free.

Tickets can be purchased from Pennyghael Stores, Bunnessan Bakehouse, the Argyll Arms in Bunnessan, The Ferry Shop and Keel Row in Fionnphort and the Craft Shop on Iona from Friday May 20.

Proceeds go to Ross of Mull and Iona Community Transport Scheme (ROMICTS).

Plants, produce, crafts and artworks by island makers will be on sale at some locations. Refreshmen­ts will be available at various locations and ROMICTS will be providing tea and cake at Suidhe Farm for a donation.
