Matthew 11: 28 30 ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will fi nd rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’

Are you weary and burdened? Paul had that thorn in his flesh all his life but Jesus said to him: ‘My grace is sufficient for you.’ Look what Paul achieved for the extension of the Kingdom. Peter disowned Jesus just as Jesus told him he would, yet Jesus comes back to restore Peter and once the Holy Spirit came upon him at Pentecost he preached and 3000 were added as Christians that day.

Down through the ages many can recount how at the low point Jesus has said to them: ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.’ And they talked of that peace that came to them that great peace that passes all understanding. Always remember that great Hymn, ‘What a friend we have in Jesus’, the last verse goes: ‘Are we weak and heavy-laden, cumbered with a load of care? Jesus is our only refuge: take it to the Lord in prayer.’

The wonderful thing is that Jesus may be calling out to you today He never changes. Rev. Joyce Watson. Isle of Iona.
