Con­cern raised over A boards

OBAN, Lorn and the Isles area com­mit­tee has raised con­cerns over the high num­ber of ‘A’ board ad­ver­tise­ments clut­ter­ing the streets in Oban and other ar­eas.

Ross McLaugh­lin, Ar­gyll and Bute Coun­cil de­vel­op­ment man­ager told the com­mit­tee that a new strat­egy for deal­ing with sig­nage will be de­vel­oped in­volv­ing both a pol­icy for reg­u­la­tory/en­force­ment regime and de­vel­op­ing a suit­able al­ter­na­tive sig­nage so­lu­tion op­tion.

The new strat­egy will be put for­ward in the au­tumn and un­til then, Coun­cil­lor Roddy McCuish (Oban South and the Isles) said the coun­cil would have to work with lo­cal busi­ness on a com­pro­mise to con­trol the issue.
